Basically what I do:
1. Draw the outline quite lightly
2. shade over the whole face very lightly (leaving highlighted areas like above the cheekbone and the eyes) then smudge it all in with some tissue.
3. Do the eyes - I do the pupil the darkest I can, and then do the iris quite lightly to begin with and then make it darker at the top (the lid creates a bit of darkness there) and around the outside of it, and also around pupil. I then blend it in using a blending stump (But you can use cotton buds which can work just as well)
4. I then do the outside of the eyes, but I'm not sure what tips I can give you here, you just really have to draw what you see
5. I then put all the darker bits onto the face, usually with a 4b - Like the cheekbones/chin/around the eyes, and then the eyebrows. I also blend all this stuff in with a tissue.
6. The mouth - Not really sure what I can say here either, just lightly shade it first, then add in the darker bits and the details.
7. I normally then do the nose, and I think it's really important on this bit aswell to notice the shading, because sometimes it's easy to do it too dark around the edges of the nose which can make it look more cartoony haha
8. I usually do the shading around the mouth and the nose here, and again, blend it with some tissue
9. The hair. I hate doing the hair. xD For curly hair - I start at one side of the curl, and make it quite dark, and then gradually fade it out towards the middle of the curl, and then do the same on the other side - I'm not sure if that made much sense, it's really hard to explain!
10. For hair that isn't curly you just need to make sure you like, put a layer of pencil down where the hair is and then blend it (just so it's not going to look white and gappy) and then start at the roots which will be the darkest, and then just drag the pencil in strokes towards the ends of the hair. You can start off quite lightly and then go over it afterwards so you get rid of all the gaps so the hair looks thicker and more realistic - That's why the hair probably takes longer than the face most of the time for me! After that, It's really just the neck/clothes/background or smaller details you need to work on
I hope this helped! If you need more, just ask
